What we collect
It depends on what you do on the site. Browsing the videos, resources and calendar needs nothing from you.
- If you sign up for reminders: your email address.
- If you sign in to submit a question: we use Google sign-in, which gives us your name, email address and profile picture. We store your account ID and email against your submission.
- If you submit a question: the file you upload, and the IP address it was sent from. We keep the IP address only to stop one person flooding the queue.
- Everyone: anonymous, aggregate page-view statistics. No profiles, no advertising, no selling anything to anyone.
Cookies
If you sign in, our sign-in provider sets cookies to keep you signed in. We also set one cookie to enforce the one-question-per-day limit. There are no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
Who we share it with
We don't sell your data or share it for advertising. We do rely on a few services to run the site, and your data passes through them:
- Clerk and Google handle sign-in.
- Supabase stores our database and uploaded files.
- Vercel hosts the site and provides the anonymous page-view statistics.
Questions you upload
Uploaded files are private by default and only visible to the Locus team. If we pick your question to cover in a session, it gets published on the resources page, where anyone can open it. The file name is shown, so avoid putting your name in it. Your email address is never shown publicly.
We delete uploaded files 90 days after they are submitted.
Your choices
You can unsubscribe from reminders at any time, no questions asked. You can also ask us to delete your account, a question you uploaded, or anything else we hold about you, and we'll do it.
Age
You need to be at least 13 to sign in or upload a question. Locus is built for Year 11 and 12 students, so in practice nearly everyone here is 15 or older, and you don't need anyone's permission to use it.
We don't knowingly collect anything from under-13s. If we find out we have, we delete it. If you're a parent or guardian and want your child's data removed, contact us and we'll remove it.
Using Locus
Use it for what it's for: getting help with your maths. Don't upload anything illegal, offensive, or that isn't yours to share, and don't upload other people's personal information. We can remove anything we don't want on the site and stop someone using it, without notice.
What you upload
Your work stays yours. By uploading a question you're giving us permission to show it in a Locus session and on the resources page, which is the whole point of submitting it. You can ask us to take it down at any time.
No guarantees
Locus is free and run by students in their own time. We work hard to get things right, but we can't promise the site is always up, that every answer is correct, or that using it will change your results. It's a supplement to your schoolwork, not a replacement for it, and it isn't affiliated with or endorsed by QCAA or your school.
Who we are
Locus Tutoring is a student-run initiative providing free QCE tutoring in Queensland, Australia. We are not a registered business. If you have any questions, reach out via our contact page or our social pages.
Changes
If we change how we use your data, we'll update this page and the date above.
